World Baseball Classic adds to a good year in South Florida Sports

When the local tourism economy rebounds the first thing they have to do is thank the sports world. In the first 3 months of 2009 south Florida has seen the orange bowl and national championship, along with the World Baseball Classic. Players, coaches, friends, family and fans have been filling up the hotel rooms and staying days and even weeks at a time. Why not? If you are from any other part of the country that is buried in snow why not see a Championship game as part of your Florida vacation? Sports may give some extra help to the South Florida economy in 2010 as well. The super bowl and for the first time, the pro bowl will be held in a 2 weeks span in south Florida. That’s over 200 football players, along with coaches, trainers, family, friends and fans who will ascend on south Florida early next year. That could equal over 10,000 tourists in a 2 week span, tourists who will be here for at least one week, possibly longer. Sports have always provided us a distraction from our troubles, well now they may just be helping us. It’s about time.
